Eric Songbill Wong Documentary Photographer and Journalist

Eric is a travel journalist and photographer from Hong Kong. Eric spent the 2016 season with Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation working on a story about the Khumbu Climbing Center, specifically about how Sherpa train in climbing and guiding for expeditions. He works for three publications: Travel Weekly, U Travel, and Esquire. He has been sent on assignment to Europe, Greenland, Iceland, Asia, Tibet, Japan, Israel, Iran, the Ukraine, Russia, and many other regions. Most of his articles focus on experiences with culture and outdoor activities in the places he travels. His work in Nepal has specifically centered on the trekking industry as it relates to the Sherpa people. Eric has been to Nepal 3 times and heard of KCC from his trekking guide. He is specifically writing about the Sherpa perspective of training for the trekking industry. In addition to his work, Eric also has a love for climbing and has his eye on climbing Cho Oyu and Ama Dablam in the next few years. He has a degree in art with a specialization in photography from Hong Kong Polytechnic and the University of Arts London.
