Phinjo Sherpa

Phinjo Sherpa Assistant Instructor, KCC Basic Group

Phinjo is from Phortse and has worked as a mountain guide with International Mountain Guides (IMG) since 2005. He currently works as a Sirdar, managing Sherpa teams and helping lead guides with logistical planning for expeditions. He has summited Everest 6 times from the south side with clients, and 2 times from the north/Tibet side with a Japanese Expedition (2000) and a Chinese Expedition (2003). He has also summited Manaslu 1 time and Cho Oyu 1 time, as well as many 6,000 meter trekking peaks in the area. When a client suffered a rib injury during an Everest expedition, Phinjo used a pulley system and tandem rappel to lower him from Camp 3 to Basecamp. Phinjo has worked with KCC for 10 years, and this is his 7th year as an instructor. He thinks KCC is important for teaching consistent safety and client care guidelines to the next generation of Sherpa going to work on Everest.
